ABB to showcase solutions for sustainable public transport at global industry show
ABB will display solutions for creating resilient, better connected and sustainable transportation at the 2019 UITP Global Transport Summit in Stockholm Sweden on June 9-12, 2019. This biennial event is widely recognized within the industry as the biggest transport show in the world, bringing attendees from around the world to discuss and discover the major trends that will drive the future of public transport.
At this year’s event, ABB will launch the new product line Panto Up. This solution offers an ideal way to charge electric buses equipped with a roof mounted pantograph. Panto Up comes as electric city buses emerge as a key way to reduce inner city pollution.
With Panto Up, one charger can power up to three vehicles simultaneously at the depot with ‘overnight charging’ in the range of 50-150kW per vehicle. It can also provide short bursts of 150-600kW of ‘opportunity charging’ at rest points throughout the day. This gives an ideal solution to ensure zero-emission public transport during the day without impacting on the normal operation of the route.
ABB will also showcase a high-performance onboard energy storage system for use in road and railway vehicles, helping to improve energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions. The Lithium-ion based energy storage system BORDLINE ESS is characterized by its high level of inherent safety, unparalleled cycle life, high charging power and excellent low temperature performance.
ABB’s e-mobility drivetrain will also be on show at UITP. This electrification platform solves challenges with emissions and noise commonly associated with diesel commercial vehicles in urban environments.
“The future of transportation depends on innovative solutions for efficient and reliable operation,” said Frank Muehlon, Global Head of E-mobility Infrastructure at ABB. “Through leading edge technology and our digital offering, ABB drives sustainable mobility. By providing a comprehensive portfolio of products, systems, service and software solutions, we are enabling people to travel in a way that is greener and more intelligent.”
Other show highlights include:
